SINTRA MONUMENTS RECEIVE MORE THAN 1 MILLION VISITS IN FIRST SEMESTER
Pena Palace receives half a million visits in six months.
There was an increase by 14% in visits to parks and public monuments of Sintra in the first half of 2016, which resulted in more than 1 million visits.
Among the monuments, which registered more entries was the Park and Pena National Palace, with half a million visits, corresponding to an increase of 19% over the same period last year.
But the Sintra National Palace received 257,000 visits, resulting in a 12% increase, which follows the Moorish Palace, common increase of 10% and the Park and Palace of Monserrate and the Capuchin Convent, with a increase of 7% in the number of visits.

Being Lisbon is included among the most expensive cities to live in. Lisbon occupies 134º place among the 209 most expensive cities to live in, due to rising rental fees.

Some cities put limitations on the short-term rentals ("short-rental"), promoted by such websites as Airbnb, however Lisbon gladly allows for this type of rentals. Short-term tourism in Lisbon, tripled in volume from year 2014, through sale of dozens of abandoned building through public auctions.
